Founding of the Catholic-Muslim Forum

On 13 October 2007, 138 Muslim scholars addressed an Open Letter to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and to other Leaders of Christian Churches and Ecclesiastical Communities, to which the Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, replied in the name of the Pope.
On March 4th and 5th 2008 a Delegation of the Signatories of the Open Letter met in Rome with a Delegation of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and “in order to further develop Catholic-Muslim dialogue” decided to establish the Catholic-Muslim Forum and to jointly organize its first Seminar.
This Seminar was held in Rome from 4 to 6 November 2008, having as its theme “Love of God, Love of Neighbor”, developed through two sub-themes: “Theological and Spiritual Foundations” and “Human Dignity and Mutual Respect”.
